Cinci Han which is one of the most improved models of the Otoman inn architecture was built in 1640–1648 by Cinci Hodja (Keçecizade Hüseyin Efendi ) who became a Anatolian Kazasker after ascension of Sultan İbrahim in 1640. It was made of cut and ruble stones.. It has two storeys and 62 rooms. it is supposed that it was built by Mr. Kasim,an architecture, the chief architect of the period. There has no been found any document, architectural project related with the construction of the inn. It was built with the experience and manual skill of the artisans who were brought up as 'devsirme'. The entrance door, the lock and the key of the Cinci Han are examples of the Turkish iron workmanship. After its restoration, Cinci Han is used as otel and restaurant.
Cinci Bath was built in 1645 by Cinci Hodja. It is located in Çeşme Quarter of historical centre. There are women and men part of Turkish bath which covered with dome. Ithas departments of its cold, hot, boiler room under a Turkish bath, stoveparts and it is still runned.
UNFORGOTTEN TOUCHING HISTORY OF CINCI INN
A great soldier and healer Huseyin hodja whose real name was Cinci Hodja was the only person curing the illness of Sultan Ibrahim I. In return for that, he was regarded by Kösem Sultan. After he became rich, he established this wonderful inn and Turkish bath in Safranbolu which was the main trade centre for traders. But as a result of rebellion, he was executed which was a very tragic story.
Afterwards, used as a caravansary until 20th century, this pleasant building was run by shopkeepers of Safranbolu as storage to put their valuable materials and other goods. In the late 20th century, the glorious inn lost its function. Today, the unique masterpiece was used as a hotel.
AN ARCHITECTURE CHALLENGING TIME
It is thought that this splendid production belongs to the grand architecture of period, Kasım Efendi. When you step into the magnificent inn, the architectural feature of it enchants you.
The marvellous structure was made of limestone. Its special arches were furnished with circular flower motives. Also surrogated with dreamful Safranbolu houses, Cinci Inn consists of a courtyard, entry, rooms, barn and cistern.
There are found unique rooms in the basement and every room contain secret underground rooms named as Trunk Rooms. Once upon a time those special rooms were used by passengers, merchants and caravan owner to keep their priceless and valuable stuffs here. At the moment, that part was run as a bath. In addition, the most important and biggest room of the inn is Inn Master (Agha) Room which is highest place here. In the past, the people could easily see from Agha Room who visited the location located on the entry door. Unwanted persons were used to be punished by being poured the boiling oil their head from that room.
The other significant part of the miraculous structure is Camel Barn built on the stream which reflects the unmatched aesthetic architectural style. Rectangle planned barn was placed on the pillars. At present, this section was serviced as a big dining hall while the upper floor was used as meeting room. Also the illuminating system and windows here dazzles the visitors.
The last part is the charming cistern, a perfect mechanism providing the water to carry canals. Today, it was covered by the flower pots.
